Douglas County Forest Restoration Services
A healthy forest is a happy forest. Leaving a forest to grow uncontrollably isn’t going to do it much good. Forests are susceptible to overgrowth, pest problems (bark beetles, Douglas-fir tussock moth infestations), diseases, aging and much more. If fire is suppressed for too long in a forest like that, there is a chance that a massive fire will eventually happen to restore its health. With proper forest restoration services and care, it’s possible to maintain beautiful and healthy forests.
We are local experts in Douglas County offering forest restoration services. While we help to protect homes from wildfire damage, we also help to restore and protect the forests. At Colorado Mastication we ensure the health of all trees, and will take steps to protect the majority of the forest in any way that we can. Sometimes that means removing a few trees, shrubs, scrub oak through mastication.
Our tree surgeons are experts in tree health care, disease and insect control, fire mitigation and much more.
Our forest restoration services include:
- Removing overgrowth
- Thinning trees
- Removing dead and dying trees
- Removing down trees and branches
- Removing trees infested with insect and diseases
- And more
Using a Variety of Tools
Forest mastication is one of the many ways our tree surgeons will protect, restore, and maintain forests. We’re able to remove one tree at a time, getting rid of disease or insect infested trees to avoid the problems passing onto others in the area. The tools are environmentally friendly and keep the job as simple, economical, and as quick as needed.
Mastication
We create a full action plan to determine the trees, shrubs, brush, scrub oak and more that need removing. Whether it’s just one or 10 trees that need removing, we’ll use special machinery to remove necessary trees, scrub oak and brush without damaging others around. It is vital to understand that forest is a dynamic system that grows, matures, reproduces, and dies. You can maintain a healthy, resilient forest by ensuring a diversity of tree species, a mix of ages, and allow it plenty of space. This gives the forest greater protection from beetle attack and makes good habitats for animals.
Removing just one or two trees will not help restore the rest of the forest. This is an ongoing issue, and we work with others in the future to ensure the area is continually protected.
